How to Make a Better Minecraft 1 Server (BMC1 Server)

5 min. readlast update: 07.16.2025

This guide will walk you through installing Better Minecraft 1 (BMC1) on your Minecraft server. It also includes helpful troubleshooting tips, recommended RAM settings, and other useful information to make sure everything is set up smoothly.

How Much RAM Will This Modpack Need?

At least 6-8GB of RAM is recommended to install the modpack, more RAM may be needed depending on the exact number of people joining. We typically recommend allocating 1GB of RAM for every 5 people playing.

The amount of RAM required for a modded Minecraft server largely depends on the number of players. Most modpacks are not designed to support more than 5 to 10 players at a time.

If you are experiencing lag or crashing on your server after installing a modpack, it is most likely a RAM issue. Upgrading your server may be needed. You can monitor RAM usage on your Panel

Step 1: Log Into SimpleGameHosting Panel

To get started with installing the modpack on your server, you first need to access the SimpleGameHosting Control Panel. From here, log in to your account with the information you set up after setting up your control panel account.

Step 2: Clearing Your Server Files

Before installing a new modpack, it’s important to to stop the server and remove any existing files, game versions, or modpacks to avoid potential conflicts.

🛑Wait: We recommend creating a backup before proceeding. You can follow this guide to learn how. The following steps will delete your current world/setup.

1. Head to the console tab and press Stop to ensure the server is offline. Then go to the Modpacks and Versions tab to see if a modpack is currently installed.

  • If a modpack is installed, click the Uninstall button in the top right corner, follow the on-screen prompts to confirm uninstalling the current modpack, and wait for the modpack to uninstall.

  • If no modpack is installed, go to the Version Manager tab. If a game version is listed, click Uninstall next to it, and wait for the version to uninstall.

2. Open your File Manager, select all visible files, click Delete at the bottom, and follow the on-screen prompt.

3. Once everything has been cleared, return to the Modpacks and Versions tab.

Step 3: Installing BMC1 on Your Server

Make sure you’re on the Modpacks and Versions tab, where you can search for modpacks. We're going to be using the Better Minecraft 1 [Forge] modpack in the example shown below.

1. In the search bar, type BMC1, and then click the Select Version button next to the modpack. Click the Install button and follow the on-screen prompts to begin the installation.

Your page will refresh to indicate that the modpack is being installed. Once the installation is complete, it will refresh again and return you to the Modpacks and Versions tab.

2. Go to the Console tab and press the Start button to launch the server. If everything is set up correctly, the server will turn online.

Step 4: Installing BMC1 on CurseForge

The steps below use the CurseForge launcher, but you can use any launcher you prefer. Just make sure you have the correct mod loader, game version, and modpack version installed on your client for everything to work properly.

1. Open the Browse tab in CurseForge app and search for BMC1 using the search bar.

2. Once you find it, click Install and wait for the installation to finish.

👋Heads up: BMC1 is a larger modpack, so you may need to increase the amount of RAM allocated to your game. To do this:

  • Go to the My Modpacks tab, right-click on BMC1, and select Profile Options
  • Make sure the Recommended option is selected for memory allocation. If not, select it and click Done at the bottom to save your changes.
    • If you'd prefer, you can set a custom amount instead. Just keep in mind that 1000MB equals 1GB.

Step 5: Joining the Server

Once everything is set, launch Minecraft using the BMC1 modpack through CurseForge.

1. From the main menu click the Multiplayer button. Then you'll join your server just like you would with any other Minecraft server using your server's IP address. You can find your server's IP address on the Console page in your control panel.

2. Enter the server name (this will only appear in your game), enter the Server Address, and click the Done button. You will then be taken back to your server list, where you can select your server and click Join.
