The Best Enchantments for Boots in Minecraft

Boots are a central point of mobility-based enchantments, which can be extremely useful in certain situations. This guide will provide a brief explanation of the enchantments, as well as their various use cases.

Feather Falling

Feather Falling is an enchantment that lowers the amount of damage you take from falling (by any means) by twelve percent per level. With a max of four levels, a level IV Feather Falling enchantment will nearly cut your fall damage in half. Protection enchantments from other pieces of armor also assist with this, upwards to a maximum cap of 80%.

Feather Falling is extremely useful for traversing mountainous areas, valleys, or other areas of elevated altitude. Even in conditions that wouldn't normally warrant the use of Feather Falling, it can still be a massive benefit by protecting you from accidental tumbles.

Soul Speed

Soul Speed, as the name suggests, will increase your movement speed across Soul Sand. Soul Sand I provides about a 40.5% increase in speed, with each level above adding an additional 10.5%. With a max of 3 levels, you can traverse Soul Sand 61.5% faster than walking over it normally.

Soul Speed is quite situational, but it works wonders when attempting to navigate the Nether's Soul Sand Vallies. It can only be obtained via treasure or bartering with Piglins.

Depth Strider

Depth Strider increases your movement speed in water by 33% per level. With a max of three levels, you'll be just as fast as walking on land once you have a maxed-out enchantment. Depth Strider is extremely useful for exploring underwater structures, such as sunken ships or underwater temples. Just be sure to have a way to breathe, or you'll meet a wet demise.

Depth Strider is mutually exclusive with Frost Walker, so you won't be able to combine the two under normal circumstances.

Frost Walker

Frost Walker will freeze water around you as you walk over top of it, its radius determined by its level. Though it only has a max of two levels, it can still be extremely useful for traversing over oceans without the need for a boat. Frost Walker also prevents Magma Blocks and Campfires from damaging you while standing on top of them.

You can only get Frost Walker by trading with a Librarian, finding it as part of Chest loot, or fishing. Be sure to hold on to the book if you find one, even if you don't plan to use it immediately! It also cannot be used with Depth Strider, so choose wisely!
