Resolving Slow Connections or Worlds Not Loading on a Hytale Server

4 min. readlast update: 01.15.2026

If you are experiencing extremely slow server connections or worlds failing to load in multiplayer, this guide will walk you through identifying the issue and applying several proven fixes on Windows systems.

Overview of the Issue

In some cases, Hytale may struggle to establish proper multiplayer connections even when your internet appears to be working normally. This problem is most commonly linked to certain network adapters and their drivers, rather than your actual internet speed or the server itself.

Common Symptoms and How to Confirm the Problem

You may be affected by this issue if several of the following conditions apply.

Typical Symptoms

  • Your internet connection is stable and fast.
    • Example: You can stream videos or browse the web without problems.
  • Singleplayer worlds load quickly and play normally.
  • Connecting to a multiplayer server or a friend takes a very long time or never finishes loading.
  • Other players may see your character moving, but you cannot interact with the world.
  • You are playing on a Windows computer.

Why This Happens

Some network adapters, most commonly Intel and Realtek models, have rare driver compatibility issues. Hytale uses a modern networking protocol called QUIC, which is not fully supported by certain drivers. Because this is a low level driver limitation, it may never be fully resolved through updates and can affect both WiFi and Ethernet connections.

Confirming the Cause

You can verify whether this issue applies to your system by:

  • Connecting an external USB Ethernet adapter or dongle to your computer and then attempting to join a server.

If the problem disappears while using the adapter, the issue is almost certainly related to your primary network driver, and the solutions below should help.

How to Resolve the Problem

After applying each solution, test your connection by joining a server. You may not need to complete every step listed in this guide.

Accessing Network Adapter Settings

These steps are required before applying any of the solutions below.

1. Open the Start Menu and search for View network connections.

2. Click the Control Panel result.

3. Locate the network connection currently providing your internet access.

4. Right click the connection and select Properties.

5. Click the Configure button.

Once you are in the adapter configuration window, proceed with the solutions below.

Solution #1: Disable Priority and VLAN

1. Open the Advanced tab.

2. Select Priority and VLAN.

3. Change the value to Disabled.

4. Click OK and wait for your internet connection to reconnect.

5. Attempt to connect to the Hytale server again.

Solution #2: Disable Receive Segment Coalescing

Note: The following options may not appear in your advanced tab.

1. In the Advanced tab, select Recv Segment Coalescing IPv4.

2. Set the value to Disabled.

3. Select Recv Segment Coalescing IPv6

4. Set the value to Disabled.

5. Click OK and allow the connection to reset.

6. Test your server connection again.

Solution #3 Disable Power and Efficiency Features

1. In the Advanced tab, locate and disable the following options:

  • Advanced EEE
  • ARP Offload
  • Energy Efficient Ethernet
  • Flow Control
  • Green Ethernet

2. Click OK and wait for your internet to reconnect.

3. Attempt to join the server again.

Solution #4: Full Network Adapter Configuration Reset

If none of the previous solutions resolve the issue, this final option applies a comprehensive set of configuration changes. This approach is more invasive and may be difficult to revert without reinstalling the network driver.

🔴Warning: Proceed only if the earlier solutions did not work.

1. Set the following adapter options exactly as listed. The values listed below were sourced from Reddit.

  • Advanced EEE Disabled
  • ARP Offload Disabled
  • EEE Max Support Speed 1.0 Gbps Full Duplex
