How To Transfer Your Minecraft Server to Another Location

2 min. readlast update: 10.17.2023

We have a few different locations that you can host your Minecraft server in. More often than not, the easiest way to choose a server location is by selecting the one closest to where you live

Occasionally though, you may accidentally choose a server location that isn't close to you or you may have players in a different region, causing you to need to move your server. This guide shows you how to do that.

Step 1: Opening a Ticket

The process of moving your server to another location means we will need to transfer it from one data center to another. Thus, you will need to contact support in order to get your server transferred.

We have a complete guide on opening a support ticket. However, here is how to create a ticket specifically for your moving your server as well as the information to provide to make the process as smooth as possible.
  1. Login to the SimpleGameHosting Billing Area
  2. Select "Tickets" in the menu bar
  3. Click the "Open Ticket" open in the bottom of the left-hand menu.
  4. Create your ticket. Please make the subject "Changing Server Location - YOUR SERVER IP".
  5. Add your server IP to the message section as well as the location you would like to move your server to. Also, include any other relevant information in the message.
  6. Submit your ticket.

Once your ticket is submitted, please allow up to 48 hours for your server to be transferred. Usually, this is much faster, but larger servers can take additional time. You will receive a reply to your ticket once the transfer is complete

Step 2: Getting Your New IP Address

Changing the location of your server will change your server's IP address. This means that you will need to get your new IP address after your server has been transferred.

This can be found by logging into the SimpleGameHosting Control Panel and selecting the server that you transferred. You can then click to copy the IP address at the top of the page.

You can then use the new IP to join your server!
