How To Transfer Your Minecraft Server to Another Location

We have a various locations throughout the World that you can host your Minecraft server in. More often than not, the easiest way to choose a server location is by selecting the one closest to where you live when first purchasing your server. 

Occasionally though, you may accidentally choose a server location that isn't close to you or you may have players in a different region, causing you to need to move your server. This guide shows you how to do that. 

Step 1: Opening a Ticket

The process of moving your server to another location means we will need to transfer it from one data center to another. Thus, you will need to contact support in order to get your server transferred. 

We have a complete guide on opening a support ticket. However, here is how to create a ticket specifically for your moving your server as well as the information to provide to make the process as smooth as possible. 

1. Login to the SimpleGameHosting Billing Area

2. Select the Tickets button in the menu bar.

3. Click the Create New Ticket in the top right menu. 

4. Fill out the ticket information.

• Please make the subject "Changing Server Location - YOUR SERVER IP".
  • Add your server IP to the message section as well as the location you would like to move your server to. Also, include any other relevant information in the message. 

5. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the ticket to submit it. 

• After submitting your ticket, please allow up to 48 hours for the server transfer to be completed. While transfers are often completed sooner, larger servers may take additional time. You’ll receive a response to your ticket once the transfer is finished, and an email notification will be sent to let you know when that response is available.

Step 2: Getting Your New IP Address

Changing your server's location will also change its IP address. After the transfer is complete, you'll need to retrieve the new IP address.

To find it, log in to the SimpleGameHosting Control Panel, select the server you transferred, and click the IP address at the top of the page to copy it.

You can then use the new IP to join your server!
