Smooth Stone Slabs are one of many different blocks that can be used for decorative or general construction purposes. They are extremely easy to obtain, so we'll go step by step on the process here.
Step 1: Getting the Smooth Stone
First, we'll need to turn Cobblestone to Stone. Simple enough, just smelt Cobblestone in a furnace like so:And then, we'll smelt the Stone again to make Smooth Stone
Once we've amassed a desireable collection, we will be able to move to step 2.
Step 2: Making the Slabs
Now, here we have two options, and it's mainly a matter of precision.
If you're not worried about being somewhat wasteful, you can simply slap 3 Smooth Stone in a line in order to create 6 Slabs:
But if you're concerned about waste product, you can mitigate this by using a Stonecutter. Stonecutters can be crafted using 3 Stone blocks across, with an Iron Ingot placed above in the center of the Stone as depicted here:
Next, place and use your Stonecutter. Place the Smooth Stone in a box, and you'll be able to cut individual pieces of stone into 2 slabs each, rather than using 3 for 6.
This gives you more control over how many slabs you'll produce in the end, making it somewhat more efficient than crafting in bulk. Stonecutters can also cut other types of stone blocks into similar objects, so investing in one now is a convenient endeavor, especially if you're planning on constructing with Stone in the future.
