A "Timed Out" error is typically an error that occurs whenever an interruption in the connection between the server and your client occurs over an extended period of time. This can be caused by a variety of things, but the general cause is typically a slow network connection.
Potential Fixes
1. Restart Your Network
One of the most common causes of the Timed Out error is simply a malfunctioning network connection. If you have access to your local network, try unplugging your router for around 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Restarting your network may not always fix the issue, but it is a decent start.
2. Restart the Server
Another potential fix for the error may be to restart the server to clear up any potential problems that may have accrued from runtime. To do so, head to the console tab of your server, then press the restart button:
3. (MODDED) Install Connectivity or Similar mod
If you're running a modded server, one mod that may come to your rescue is "Connectivity," alongside its dependency "Cupboard" if you're running a version past 1.18.2. This is a server-side mod, so you will ONLY need to install it onto the server for it to work!
Don't know how to install a mod? Check here!
After you've installed and launched the server once, you must now locate the configs folder
And then the connectivity config (you may have to scroll down a bit if you have a lot of mods).
Open the config file. You'll get a popup similar to this:
The settings we're looking for are logintimeout and disconnectTimeout. Increase the logintimeout value if you're getting kicked while trying to join, and increase the disconnectTimeout value if you're getting kicked while in the game.
Be sure to save your changes in the top right!
