Your Minecraft server logs are a valuable tool for troubleshooting issues with your server. For this guide, we'll be showing you how to access these logs on your own!
Accessing Server Logs
1. Login to your servers control panel,
- If you have multipler servers find the server you want to manage and open it.
- If you only have one server, you will be directed to the Console tab when loggin into the Control Panel.
2. Navigate to the File Manager tab and click it.
3. Look for the Logs folder and click it to open it.
- This folder contains all log files generated by your server during each startup and shutdown. The latest.log file shows information from the most recent session, while older logs are also stored for reference.
- On modded servers, you may also see a debug.log, which can be helpful for troubleshooting.
- To view archived logs, click the three dots (…) next to the file and choose either Unarchive to open it directly in the panel, or Download to extract and view it on your computer.
Bonus: Crash Reports!
Crash reports are typically generated if a server crashes at any point with a couple of exceptions that we'll go over in a moment. Crash reports are fundamental for understanding what may be going wrong with a server, and can easily diagnose problems such as missing dependencies and malfunctioning mods! Follow the steps below to access your crash reports:
1. Navigate to the File Manager tab and click it.
2. Find the Folder Named crash-reports and open it by clicking on the folder.
👋Heads-Up: If there is no crash-report folder or the latest report doesn’t match the most recent crash, it usually means either the server crashed very early during startup or ran out of RAM. Neither situation generates a crash report.
3. Open the most recent crash report file available.
