‼️ Shaders are client sided, meaning that they won't need to be installed onto your server. Shaders mods like optifine will cause your server to crash, so it's best to remove them.
Step 1: Install Optifine
We have this guide on how to exactly install Optifine! Once it's installed, we can move over to step 2.
Step 2: Downloading Your Shaders
Always use a trusted website when downloading 3rd party content. CurseForge and Modrinth are places you can download your mods, but always be aware. In this guide, we'll be using the Complementary Shaders - Reimagined shaders, but you can use any that you would like.
❗ Typically shaders are version compatible, meaning a 1.21.1 shader will work with a 1.21.6 game, but it's not always guaranteed.
Head to the Files tab then download the version that matches yours. Usually the +x number will also match your version once you open the file.
Step 3: Install the Shaders
While in the Minecraft launcher, navigate to your Installations tab and locate your version (whether that be just Optifine or a modpack, both will work here).
In my case, it's the Optifine installation. But if you're running a modpack, it will be the name of the modpack.
Once navigated to the Installations tab, click the folder icon of your installation.
You should then see a file that looks like this or similar.
In the event you don't see a shaderpacks folder, not to worry! You can create one by right-clicking, clicking new folder, then naming it shaderpacks
Finally, drag and drop your shaders that you downloaded into the shaderpacks folder.
You're done, they are now installed! Finally, we can head to the last step.
Step 3: Enabling the Shaders
Once in game, head to your options, then video settings tab. The, click on shaders,
