In this guide, we will show you how to add the OptiFine mod to a CurseForge modpack. OptiFine is a popular Minecraft mod that can improve game performance by increasing FPS and reducing lag. Downloading and Installing Optfine
Always make sure you are downloading OptiFine from the official OptiFine website. When choosing a version, ensure it is compatible with the modpack you are using. Installing an incompatible version may cause the game to crash on startup or prevent the mod from working correctly.
⚠️ Note: The examples below show how to install OptiFine in the RLCraft modpack on CurseForge, which uses Forge 1.12.2. Even if your modpack uses a different version, the steps remain the same as long as OptiFine is compatible with your modpack.
Step 1: Download OptiFine
1. Go to the official OptiFine download page and find the version you need. You may need to click Show All Versions at the bottom to see older releases.
2. Click on the version you want, then click the Download button. You will be redirected to a page where you can skip the ad by clicking Skip at the top right.
3. After skipping the ad, click the Download button again to save the OptiFine file to your computer. Make note of where it is saved.
Step 2: Installing OptiFine
1. Open the CurseForge app and select your modpack profile.
2. At the top right, click the three dots, then select Open Folder from the dropdown menu.
3. In the folder that opens, locate and open the mods folder.
4. Drag and drop the OptiFine file into this folder. Once complete, you can close the folder.
Step 3: Launching Your Modpack
1. In the CurseForge app, click Play on your modpack profile to launch the game.
2. Once the game loads, go to the Options menu from the main screen, then click Video Settings.
3. At the bottom left, you should see that OptiFine is installed. You can now adjust all the available settings OptiFine provides, including performance options and graphics enhancements. Along with the ability to add shaders to the modpack.
