What “Mismatched Modlist” Means
The “Mismatched Modlist” error occurs when the mods and configurations between your client and server don’t exactly match.
Common causes include:
-
Missing or extra mods on either side
 -
Different mod versions
 -
Different Forge/Fabric loader versions
 -
Client-only mods on the server
 -
Conflicting configuration files

Before You Begin
-
Back up your server. Here is a guide on how to do that!
 -
Stop the server while you make changes.
 -
Ensure your client isn’t running during the process.

Log Into SimpleGameHosting Panel

To get started with installing the modpack on your server, you first need to access the SimpleGameHosting Control Panel. From here, log in to your account with the information you set up after setting up your control panel account.
Compare Mod Lists
-
On your client, open your
.minecraft/modsfolder (or your launcher’s mod directory). -
On your server, open the
modsfolder in your Simple Game Hosting panel, -
Make sure the list of
.jarfiles is identical — same mods, same versions, same mod loader.-
Example: If your client has
BiomesOPlenty-1.20.1-17.0.0.575.jar, the server must have the same file.
 -
 -
Check the Forge or Fabric version — both must use the same mod loader build.

If a mod is missing or uses a different version:
-
Add or replace the mod on the side that’s missing it.
 -
Remove mods that shouldn’t be there (like client-only ones).

Sync Config Files
Even when mods match, configuration differences can cause issues.
-
Delete or move the
configfolder on both the server and the client. -
Copy one side’s
configfolder to the other (preferably, from the server to the client). -
Restart both sides so they generate matching configuration data.

Use the Correct Modpack Version
If you’re using a modpack (CurseForge, FTB, etc.):
-
Download and install the same version of the modpack for both client and server.
 -
Always use the official server pack when available — it removes client-only mods automatically.
 -
Reinstall the modpack on the client if necessary to ensure everything matches.

Remove Old or Leftover Files
Old files can cause problems, even if you think things match.
-
On the server, delete or rename the
modsandconfigfolders before uploading clean copies. -
On the client, delete any unused or duplicate mods.
 -
Make sure there aren’t multiple versions of the same mod in your
modsfolder.
Restart and Test
-
Start the server.
 -
Launch Minecraft and try connecting.
 -
If the error persists, check your logs:
-
Server log: may indicate which mod is mismatched.
 -
Client log (
latest.log): look for “mismatch” or “failed to synchronize” messages.
